About the World Health Organization
WHO is the United Nations agency that connects nations, partners and people to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable, so everyone, everywhere can attain the highest level of health. Established in 1948, the World Health Organization leads and champions global efforts to give everyone, everywhere an equal chance to live a healthy life. WHO sets international health standards, supports countries to strengthen their health systems, coordinates responses to health emergencies, and advances evidence-based guidance so all people can achieve the highest attainable standard of health. One of WHO’s six regional offices around the world, WHO/EUROPE serves the WHO European Region, which comprises 53 countries, covering a vast geographical region from the Atlantic to the Pacific oceans. On behalf WHO and working in close collaboration with our HQ colleagues, the Regional Office for Europe (WHO/Europe) is a lead implementation partner working in collaboration with the Government of Ireland to co-deliver the Global Expo Scientific programme.
The Department of Children, Disability and Equality (DCDE) has responsibility for policy, legislation, investment and oversight of specialist services for disabled people in Ireland. DCDE is also leading Ireland’s engagement, on behalf of Government, with the WHO on a multi-year agreement focused on optimising our health and workforce, scaling access to assistive technology and creating a disability inclusive health system.
We are proud to be supporting this Global Expo, which is a commitment in Ireland’s Programme for Government and a priority for DCDE.
The Department believes this event will shape conversations on the development of sustainable and disability inclusive health systems, inform a stronger and tech-enabled workforce, and connect industry leaders with healthcare providers and policymakers.
